focused on the science behind therapy
Throughout his career Nick has always maintained a passion for learning and is driven by a desire to support his clients to achieve positive outcomes from therapy. In 2012 he began to reflect on over a decade of experience as a therapist, what he had learned and how that might benefit his clients. This sparked an interest in academic and scientific research.

In 2020 Nick began to investigate the scientific and neurobiological explanation for how people develop trauma and distress that leads them to need therapeutic intervention. Since then he has continued to research extensively in order to understand the evidence base for how therapy works. His core research interest is the neurobiology of memory and trauma.

Building on all his experience in the field and his in-depth research of clinical and scientific research, Nick has developed Emotional Response Therapy (ERT), a simple therapy to help overcome psychological distress.

Nick is always keen to share his research with other professionals and organisations in order to help them improve their own practice outcomes.
with a passion for adventure!
When not working Nick likes to push his own limits and will often be found hanging out at the climbing wall, whizzing down hills on his mountain bike or exploring the countryside walking with his dog Clara. The more exhilarating or adventurous, the more enjoyable it is.
