Work with children
Nick AdamsNick has over ten years experience working with children in numerous settings, he has worked in several different children’s homes as a residential social worker and has thus gained the experience of working with children looking after their day to day care. This helps Nick to quickly develop a rapport with children as he has had the essential experience of working in a less formal setting than therapy.

As well as developing a rapport this experience helps Nick to understand how children think, interact and are affected by what happens in their environment. This is knowledge that you don’t gain from learning about child behaviour from books, courses and seeing children once a week for therapy.

This experience coupled with having worked as a therapist in different settings has led Nick to develop a unique knowledge and experience. Working with children as an attachment therapist, led Nick to increase his knowledge base. Keys Attachment Centre where Nick worked was and still is at the forefront of developing therapeutic programs for children with attachment disorder. Nick has also worked along side several therapists with backgrounds in music, drama and play therapy, which helped him develop his own practice.

Nick continues to work with children bringing with him his background, knowledge and qualifications; working with children in the private sector helping them to overcome fears, phobias, traumas and other childhood problems. Additionally Nick works with children and adults from separating and divorcing families helping the child to come to terms with what is happening within their family. He either works advising the parents or directly with the child depending upon the parents wishes and the circumstances.

Work with adults
As an attachment therapist Nick worked very closely with the adults helping them to understand what was happening with their child and develop strategies and techniques to help them with their child.

It was this work that led Nick to continue to work with adults in his present therapy practice.  As a result Nick has continued to develop and grow his practice as he now works with adults in a multitude of different settings. As well as delivering one to one therapy sessions for trauma, anxiety, phobias and depression to name but a few, Nick also works with individuals or couples that are going through a divorce. Nick works with the couple on either a one to one or couples basis depending upon what they require. Additionally he works with lawyers advising and coaching them on the psychological impacts of divorce.

Having worked with children who have experienced divorce and adults who have experienced divorce as adults and/or children Nick is able to understand to a greater depth the impacts of divorce on families and the individual.

Working with businesses
Having worked with individuals who have suffered from stress, anxiety, presentation anxiety and communication problems for several years, Nick began to develop the training packages that PTP now offers. These training courses are developed out of the many successfully treated clients Nick has worked with. These courses are both innovative and unique in their delivery and approach as all the things taught have been tried and tested.
